The most meaningful way we can have impact is to act as a role model to others. For me and for hundreds of thousands of other people around the world, Lance Armstrong does just that. On October 2, 1996, Lance was diagnosed with testicular cancer - which spread throught his body and even into his brain - and had to begin concentrating on surviving before he could think about winning.

Six Tour de France wins later -- and currently leading his 7th -- Lance has elected to retire from professional cycling in 2005. To commemorate his survivorship, dedication, and excellence, his career-long sponsor Nike has released a set of gear (in addition to the "Livestrong" bracelets that so many of us already wear, which support the Lance Armstrong Foundation). Check it out here.

Bet his first wife doesn't think he's such an awesome role model.
